Letter from the Co-founder and CEO of BlogFrog

by Rustin on December 9, 2010

BlogFrog is celebrating a major milestone next month and we want all of our 50,000 bloggers to be part of it. But first I want to share a little about how it all got started and then ask for your help.

My curiosity for online communities began at the age of 12, when I used to run modem-driven bulletin boards in my bedroom closet. From the beginning, I was fascinated by the idea that I could connect with fellow techies from all over the world and have discussions with them online.

That curiosity for connecting like-minded people turned into a passion years later when I moved my family to Colorado to build satellites and raise our growing family. To stay in touch with the tight-knit community of family and friends we had left behind, my wife started a blog and soon after BlogFrog was born. As it turns out, thousands of you shared that fundamental need to connect with communities of like-minded people and BlogFrog took off from there.

Here’s where I have a favor to ask. We’ve come a long way, but we know we can do more. How can we together grow this network from 50,000 bloggers to 5 million bloggers? We have a few ideas but I’m convinced the genius in that solution lies with users like you who represent the heart of BlogFrog.

Do you have a marketing idea you’d like to share? A reporter or blogger you’d like to introduce us to? Maybe you have an exciting partnership idea! We want to hear from you. If we implement your idea, we’ll give you full credit and include you (and your blog) in a massive PR campaign we’ll be launching in January 2011.

You inspire us every day and now we want to inspire you by helping millions of women connect with you and your communities. Just reply to this email directly or join the discussion here in our Community University. We look forward to hearing your ideas!

I don’t use my blog to make money, I used my blog to do what millions of other bloggers do – SHARE. In the process of sharing we get to meet awesome people, we get to put our opinionated thoughts out there, we get to have our “soap box” moment.

Thats why I blog
